Shelter Designs, based in Missoula, Montana, has been crafting Montana-made yurts since it was officially established in 2005, growing from a small shop in Troy to a full production facility in Missoula. The company offers two primary models: the Big Sky Yurt, featuring premium engineered Douglas Fir and Larch rafters with heavy-duty galvanized steel tension cables and insulated fiberglass doors, available in diameters from 12 to 40 feet; and the Eco Yurt, built with hand-finished round lodgepole pine. Both models are designed for four-season durability. Materials are sourced from the forests of Western Montana, reflecting the company's commitment to local craftsmanship and eco-conscious building. Shelter Designs yurts are used for off-grid homes, glamping retreats, guest lodging, resort accommodations, and creative workspaces nationwide.
