Plus Hus, designed by the award-winning Santa Monica architecture firm Minarc and built by mnmMOD, offers flat-packed prefabricated accessory dwelling units that bring modern Scandinavian design sensibility to the California housing market. Founded in 2018, the company produces three models — the Plús Hús Open, Open+, and Full — all based on a 320-square-foot footprint and suitable for use as a guest house, home office, art studio, or short-term rental. Units are constructed from steel-frame panels made with 30 percent recycled materials, are Cradle to Cradle Certified, and are fire- and termite-proof with high R-values, delivering a significantly reduced carbon footprint. The modular panels can be assembled in just a few days, offering a fast, sustainable, and aesthetically refined path to backyard living.
