Out of the Valley

Out of the Valley is a UK-based design studio founded in 2016 by Rupert McKelvie on his farm in Dartmoor National Park, Devon, specialising in customisable prefabricated off-grid cabins, saunas, and greenhouses sold under the Nomad Cabins brand. The company offers six models including the Nomad Original, Nomad Linked, Nomad Twin, Nomad Greenhouse, and Nomad Sauna, each constructed with sustainable timber, burnt-cedar cladding, and optional green technologies such as solar panels, composting toilets, rainwater harvesting, and grey water recycling. Clients choose between foundational or premium specification levels and personalise finishes, fixtures, fittings, and appliances. Out of the Valley's cabins are designed to sit sensitively within natural landscapes and have been featured by international design publications, reflecting the studio's commitment to low-impact, site-responsive living.
